Of all my work over the three week module, this is my personal favourite. I love bold colours. Acrylic on paper, varnished. Had fun with this one, was enjoyable to paint on a larger scale.

DSCF0247I just loved painting this, I enjoy warm, earthy colours and not too many colours. Was great to paint large, and to pin the paper to the wall, and paint this way, getting away from tables and chairs. This was done during the 'print to paint' module with Hadlee, loved every moment. I have now moved onto a theme of still-life, placement and light, which is turning out to be a real challenge. Maybe I prefer abstract painting, but I have lots of research to do. I like pottery and vases, currently am looking at Wedgwood, tonal painting, negative space, my mediums will be oil, and anything else I can find! The work of Cezanne is an inspiration to me, also Matiise and Van Gogh.

This started off as a ‘serious’ and realistic painting…water soluable oil on canvas, a lovely, textured medium to work with, and quick to apply. Orange, and more orange…

Acrylic on paper, having researched some of the German painters, especially the expressionists, cubism also.

DSCF0231This was gret fun. I enjoy bold colours, chunky shapes, looseness and exploration. Have been looking at German  abstract art, love the 'accidental' feel of abstract painting, and loose, light colour.

At the end of my three week painting module, acrylic on canvas, loose fruit, enjoyed exploring colour and shape, and being loose with the medium!

DSCF0234Acrylic on stretched canvas, I have always enjoyed the subject of still life. I adore loose painting and the richness of colour in fruit. I have been looking at the work of Francis Hodgkins. I'm now exploring still life as a threme over the next four weeks, in drawings, washes, pastels and finished paintings. Have started to set up my own still life arrangements...Avondale Market is a good place for hunting out interesting knick-knacks, etc.

Quick studies, having looked at the German expressionists.

Colour exploration, my own work, looking at Kadinsky.

DSCF0206Back to basics here, just looking at colour and shapes. This photograhed quite well, I like the orange and green contrasts. Acrylic on paper.

Beautiful Cambridge, arriving for the weekend.

DSCF0265Interupting my exhibition here, I have always loved this landmark church in Cambridge, was there over the Easter break. This church is gorgeous inside too, it has the most amazing stained-glass windows, all depicting a story, some of them from famous battles. I should have taken some photos of those as well!  I attended an Easter service here, was a very memorable exprience.

Chunky brush strokes, lots of black, acrylic on paper, enjoyed the process, but too dark for my liking, a good learning curve.

This represents three weeks’ worth of work, ‘print to paint’, enjoyed exploring abstractions and colour, again working freely with all mediums,…had a blast.

Tonal black and white, abstract, acrylic, enjoyed the simplicity of no colour here, and being loose with the paint. Have been looking at the German Expressionists.

More stuff from my own little space, still can’t stop painting…

Work from my “cell space” at tec, end of three week painting module…thoroughly enjoyable!

DSCF0243This room took ages to arrange, pinning up and re-pinning my work, my feet ached at the end of this day, but I quite liked the result. Painting, paiinting, and more painting, a real buzz.

Second week of painting module, awesome fun!

Acrylic and Indian Ink on paper, third week of painting module.
